About Korean American Foundation
Korean American Foundation serves the Los Angeles, CA community as a mission-driven philanthropic organization founded by grateful Korean Americans committed to giving back to society's most vulnerable members. Established in 2018, KAF emerged from a shared vision among community leaders who recognized both the blessings of life in America and the responsibility to support those facing hardship, particularly within the Korean American community. The Foundation operates on the principle that while philanthropic interests serve all peoples, Korean Americans—often overlooked due to the misleading model minority myth—deserve focused attention and resources. KAF's vision encompasses a Korean American community that embraces philanthropy rooted in cultural traditions, recognizes the inherent dignity of all people, and creates a legacy of enduring change. With seven years of service since 2018, the Foundation has distributed significant resources to community-based organizations addressing real poverty, suffering, and unmet needs within the Korean American population. Led by accomplished volunteer board members and a dedicated management team, KAF maintains unwavering commitment to transparency, integrity, and efficiency in every charitable dollar entrusted to the organization. The Foundation celebrates the contributions of its founding chairman, Dr. Myung Ki Hong, whose lifelong dedication to community harmony and cultural diversity inspired KAF's creation. Today, serving Los Angeles's vibrant Korean American community, KAF continues honoring this legacy through strategic grant-making and philanthropic leadership.
