About Koreos UCLA
Koreos represents a thriving student-led community at UCLA dedicated to celebrating Korean popular music through the art of dance. Established in December 2014, this Los Angeles-based organization has grown into a meaningful creative outlet where students passionate about K-pop can collaborate, learn, and share their talents with others. The group's mission centers on authentic cultural appreciation and artistic expression, bringing the dynamic energy of K-pop performances to the UCLA campus and surrounding Los Angeles community.
At its core, Koreos is more than just a performance group—it's a community of students united by their love for Korean music and dance culture. Members work together to create dance covers, special performances, and concept trailers that celebrate K-pop artistry while developing their own creative and technical skills. The organization provides a supportive environment where students can connect with peers who share their interests and grow as performers and artists.
Under the leadership of founding members Jessica Dang, Chang Shu, and Jing Huang, and with the support of faculty advisor Melissa L Veluz-Abraham, Koreos has become an integral part of UCLA's diverse cultural landscape. The organization's presence in Los Angeles reflects the region's vibrant multicultural community and the growing appreciation for Korean entertainment worldwide. By bringing K-pop dance to UCLA, Koreos fosters cross-cultural understanding and creates spaces where students can celebrate their passions together.
