About Latino Community Center - Pittsburgh

Founded in 2017 by Rosamaria Cristello with visionary community leadership, the Latino Community Center represents a decade-long commitment to serving Pittsburgh's Latino population. The organization's roots trace back to 2009 when the Latino Family Center first opened its doors in Squirrel Hill, initially focusing on families with young children. What began as a single program evolved into a comprehensive community institution as Cristello listened to and observed the changing needs of Pittsburgh's growing Latino population. In 2015, LCC conducted the county's first Latinx Needs Assessment, laying the strategic foundation for expanded services. Today, based in Pittsburgh, PA, the Latino Community Center stands as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with governance structures intentionally designed to reflect community voices and priorities. The organization's unique strength lies in its team composition—over 40 staff members and 90 community volunteers, many of whom started as families benefiting from LCC programs themselves. This organic growth from within the community creates authentic relationships and deep cultural understanding. From the SOY PGH Afterschool Program in Beechview to La Tiendita and the Welcome Center, every initiative emerges from genuine community partnership. The Latino Community Center's vision is clear: a Pittsburgh where all Latinos are valued, have equal access to resources, and can thrive. By advancing and uplifting the Latino community, LCC actively works to ensure Pittsburgh becomes increasingly welcoming, diverse, and inclusive for all residents.
