LEAD Filipino
About LEAD Filipino
Rooted in the San Jose, CA community since 2015, LEAD Filipino—Leadership, Education, Activism, and Dialogue—represents a grassroots movement driven by the passion and commitment of students, adults, and families dedicated to advancing Filipino American civil rights and social justice. The organization was founded on the belief that education and community dialogue are powerful tools for creating meaningful change, and it continues to build on that foundation by cultivating the next generation of Filipino American leaders and advocates. LEAD Filipino's work is guided by core values of equity, fair access, and service to the common good, with a particular focus on addressing racial equity and economic stability within the Filipino American experience. The organization has become a trusted resource for hundreds of community members, providing not only financial assistance to those facing economic hardship but also mentorship, educational opportunities, and platforms for civic engagement. What distinguishes LEAD Filipino is its integrated approach—combining direct service with community organizing, educational programming with policy advocacy, and individual support with collective action. By fostering leadership development and increasing Filipino American representation in public service and policy-making, LEAD Filipino strengthens the entire San Jose community and advances the voices and interests of those historically underrepresented in civic spaces.
