Long Island Hispanic Bar Association
About Long Island Hispanic Bar Association
Founded in 2001 by Family Court Magistrate Phil Goglas and a dedicated group of Hispanic attorneys, the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association has evolved from its origins as the Suffolk County Hispanic Bar Association into a thriving organization serving the entire Long Island and Queens region from its Garden City, NY headquarters. What began with a vision to support Hispanic legal professionals and protect civil and political rights has grown into a multifaceted community institution that uplifts both the legal profession and the broader Hispanic community. LIHBA distinguishes itself through genuine commitment to community empowerment, offering free legal seminars that educate residents about their rights and providing accessible legal guidance through its referral hotline. The organization actively partners with advocacy groups and government officials to tackle systemic problems facing Hispanic residents on Long Island, demonstrating a deep understanding of community needs. Beyond professional development, LIHBA engages in meaningful charitable work throughout the year, including coat drives, food drives, and mentorship programs. The association has intentionally expanded its scholarship fund and internship opportunities to encourage young Hispanic professionals to become leaders in their respective fields. Through networking events, webinars, and volunteer opportunities, LIHBA builds lasting relationships that strengthen both professional and community connections. The organization's leadership has included trailblazing judges, accomplished litigators, and dedicated advocates who model excellence and community service, inspiring the next generation to pursue legal careers with integrity and purpose.
