Founded in 1976 by visionary Latino lawyers and law students, Los Abogados Hispanic Bar Association has grown into a vibrant familia serving Phoenix, AZ and the entire state of Arizona. What began as a movement to create community and empower Latinos within the legal profession has evolved into a dynamic organization dedicated to developing, empowering, and supporting the Latino community through advancement of the legal profession. Los Abogados operates from a deep belief that diversity, equity, and inclusion strengthen the entire legal system and better serve all communities. The organization's identity centers on member-driven programming that balances professional growth with personal connection. Beyond traditional networking and continuing education, Los Abogados creates spaces for lawyers, law students, and judges to gather as a community, fostering the sense of familia that has defined the organization for nearly five decades. This commitment extends to nurturing future generations of Latino legal professionals through mentorship, educational support, and direct financial assistance via endowed scholarships at Arizona's leading law schools. Los Abogados recognizes that diversity in the legal profession requires intentional investment and support. Through initiatives like the Pipeline Fellowship Program offering free LSAT preparation, the Mentorship Program connecting students with experienced attorneys, and substantial scholarship funding, the organization actively removes barriers to entry and advancement for Latino legal professionals. Operating across six committees focused on diversity, education, and advocacy, Los Abogados members dedicate themselves to advancing civil rights, improving legal services quality, and creating a more inclusive Arizona legal landscape for generations to come.
