About MU Black Law Students Association
The MU Black Law Students Association represents the University of Missouri School of Law's deep commitment to fostering belonging and celebrating the uniqueness of every individual within its academic community. Based in Columbia, MO, this student organization embodies Mizzou Law's core values of respect, responsibility, discovery, and excellence by creating meaningful spaces where Black law students can connect, grow, and support one another.
At the heart of Mizzou Law's identity is a distinctive culture that prioritizes community and collegiality over competition. The law school's more than 150-year history includes countless individuals who have made incredible impacts on the justice system and the world at large. The Black Law Students Association carries forward this legacy by ensuring that Black students experience the same sense of belonging and intellectual community that defines the Mizzou Law experience. Through student organizations like this, the law school demonstrates its conviction that by sharing unique characteristics in service to its core values, the institution becomes a better place to learn, work, lead, serve, and innovate.
Members of the Black Law Students Association participate in the rich traditions and vibrant social life of Mizzou Law, from faculty clap outs to community events that strengthen character and build lifetime friendships. The organization provides essential peer support, mentorship, and networking opportunities that complement the rigorous academic curriculum. By fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, the Black Law Students Association helps ensure that all students graduate as well-rounded lawyers sensitive to ethical issues, prepared to serve clients, and ready to be leaders in their communities and the legal profession.
