National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures
About National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures
Since 1989, the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures has been the dedicated voice and resource hub for Latino artists and cultural organizations across America. Operating from San Antonio, Texas, NALAC was founded on the recognition that the Latino arts sector required specialized national advocacy and support systems. The organization serves a multi-generational, multi-ethnic, and interdisciplinary community united by a shared commitment to cultural excellence and equity.
NALAC's mission extends beyond grantmaking to encompass a holistic approach to community empowerment and cultural stewardship. Guided by core values of advocacy, empowerment, equality, and ethics, NALAC actively repudiates discrimination in all forms and champions multi-lingual, multi-ethnic environments that nurture artistic creation. The organization's constituency spans from individual artists to nonprofit organizations, cultural workers, and scholars who collectively represent the dynamic diversity of the Latino arts field. NALAC's alumni, grantees, members, and supporters form a vibrant network spread across the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and beyond. Through its integrated approach combining funding, leadership development, convenings, research, and advocacy, NALAC envisions a cultural landscape that fully values and integrates the essential contributions of Latino artists and cultural workers. The organization stimulates meaningful intergenerational dialogues that strengthen community discourse and foster transformative cultural change.
