About National Association of Real Estate Brokers
Since 1947, the National Association of Real Estate Brokers has been a movement dedicated to advancing democracy in housing and expanding opportunities for underserved communities. Based in Lanham, Maryland, NAREB unites minority real estate professionals in a shared mission to eliminate discriminatory housing practices and promote fair access to homeownership for all Americans. What began as a response to post-World War II racial segregation has evolved into the nation's most historic Black real estate trade association, continuously fighting for equal housing opportunities regardless of race, creed, or color.
NAREB's impact extends far beyond professional networking. The organization actively engages in legislative advocacy, community outreach, and policy development aimed at remedying disparate housing practices and building generational wealth within Black households. Members embrace the Realtist credo—"Democracy in Housing"—which guides every aspect of the organization's work.
