Founded in 2004 and chartered by the National Science Foundation, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) operates from Boulder, Colorado as a mission-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to transforming the computing ecosystem. With over 20 years of pioneering work, NCWIT has built the nation's largest network of change leaders—comprising more than 1,600 member organizations spanning K-12 education, higher education, and industry—unified by a common goal of broadening participation in technology.
At its core, NCWIT addresses a critical national challenge: the underrepresentation of women and historically marginalized communities in computing fields. The organization recognizes that expanding participation requires intentional action across intersections of race, ethnicity, class, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability status.
