About National Native American Law Students Association

The National Native American Law Students Association was founded in 1970 to support law students who are interested in the study of Federal Indian Law, Tribal Law, and traditional forms of governance. Through NNALSA, we increase the Native American law student population and promote indigenous legal issues that affect Native communities.

The National Native American Law Students Association, Inc. (the “Association”) is a nonprofit corporation established to:

(a) promote unity and cooperation among Native American law students, provide a basis to work for the advancement of Native Americans, and promote learning and knowledge by encouraging students to develop legal scholarship in Native American legal issues.

(b) foster communication among Native American law students and their peers, Native American lawyers, and the general public;

(c) provide support to Native American law students, for educational opportunities such as curriculum development, tutorial programs and research projects;

(d) provide a forum for the discussion of law that affects Native Americans

(e) any lawful act or activity for which nonprofit corporations may be organized under the New Mexico Nonprofit Corporation Act or activities permitted by section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code and its regulations, or successor sections or regulations.
