2026 NC Black Women Architecture (BWA) Brunch
About 2026 NC Black Women Architecture (BWA) Brunch
Join us as we gather Black women in the architecture profession in a supportive environment with their peers.
Please join us at 2151 Hawkins Street in Charlotte for North Carolina’s 4th annual Black Women in Architecture Brunch. Attendance is open to all Black women in the AEC industry (of course!), as well as their supporters and allies. Enjoy a delicious brunch, in-person networking, and a nationally broadcast virtual presentation from our counterparts in Washington D.C. (11:30 am -2:00 pm). These open festivities will be followed by a closed session for Black female architecture professionals to get to know each other and share their unique experiences (2:00-3:30 pm).
Proceeds from this event contribute to the BWA Network and NCNOMA 2027 ARE Scholarships.
NCNOMA's goal is to create local access for BIPOC practitioners to get licensed where it does not otherwise exist. The NCNOMA ARE Scholarship will recognize the contributions of emerging North Carolina professionals in their careers and defray the costs associated with the Architect Registration Examination (ARE). Scholarship recipients will receive funds to cover the cost of the ARE and study materials to prepare for testing.
The Black Women in Architecture Network is a resource clearinghouse for the over 500 US licensed Black women architects, those aspiring to be architects, and other women in design, planning, and allied professions in the US and around the world.

North Carolina Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects
Founded on the legacy of the 8 visionary architects, the NCNOMA is a non-profit organization of architects, designers, and allied professionals. While minority architects and designers have achieved notable successes, a tremendous need remains to ensure that our built environment and future design leaders truly represent our diverse society. NCNOMA’s primary mission is to develop the growth of minority students, interns, architects, and educators in the field of architecture, as well as champion diversity within the design professions by promoting excellence, community engagement, and the professional development of its members. The organization serves as an advocate for people of color through its engagement with equity and justice. NCNOMA will act as a source of guidance, leadership, and support; continuously striving for an inclusive and diverse architectural profession.
