Nebraska OUTLaw

Nebraska OUTLaw is a student organization at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln's College of Law, serving the Lincoln, Nebraska community with a commitment to comprehensive student support and career development. The organization operates under the guidance of the Career Development Office, which works collaboratively with students, alumni, and employers to create pathways for professional success in the legal field. This student-led initiative reflects the law school's broader mission of developing leaders who address real-world problems through legal expertise and community engagement.

At its core, Nebraska OUTLaw values the relationships between students, faculty, and legal professionals. The organization believes that career development is not a one-size-fits-all process but rather a personalized journey that benefits from mentorship, guidance, and professional networking. By hosting theme-focused lunches, facilitating connections with practicing attorneys, and creating opportunities for students to shadow legal professionals, the organization builds meaningful relationships that extend beyond the classroom.

The organization also recognizes the importance of student well-being and holistic development. Nebraska Law's recent recognition with the 2025 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award from Insight Into Academia magazine underscores the institution's commitment to supporting students' emotional and professional growth. Nebraska OUTLaw contributes to this supportive environment by ensuring that every student has access to counseling, resources, and mentorship. Whether through individual appointments or group programming, the organization demonstrates that investing in students' career development is an investment in the future of the legal profession and the communities served by Nebraska Law graduates throughout the region.
