North Shore Alliance of GLBTQ Youth
About North Shore Alliance of GLBTQ Youth
Based in Salem, Massachusetts, the North Shore Alliance of GLBTQ Youth (NAGLY) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring, respecting, educating, and empowering LGBTQIA+ young people in their community and beyond. NAGLY creates a welcoming space where youth can explore their identities without shame, discrimination, or misunderstanding, celebrating the unique contributions of every member regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, cultural background, class, or ability status. The organization recognizes that young people questioning or in transition deserve developmentally appropriate support as they examine their possibilities carefully. Through its collaborative model combining peer leadership with trained adult advisors, NAGLY has built a strong community culture centered on mutual respect and safety. The organization prioritizes confidentiality and professional support, with staff trained to make appropriate referrals to outside resources when needed. NAGLY extends its commitment beyond youth participants by actively engaging families, encouraging open and honest dialogue when safe and appropriate, and providing caregivers with resources and guidance. The organization's holistic approach addresses both immediate youth needs and long-term development, recognizing that parental and family support plays a vital role in fostering healthy outcomes. By combining community service opportunities, peer connection, education, and family engagement, NAGLY empowers young people to build fulfilling lives with increased self-awareness, stronger relationships, and greater resilience.
