PFLAG Carson Region
About PFLAG Carson Region
Founded on the principle that families united with LGBTQ+ people can create meaningful change, PFLAG Carson Region serves the Carson City, Nevada community as part of a national grassroots movement spanning all 50 states. Since its inception in 1972 by a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG has grown into the nation's largest family and ally organization with 400 chapters and 200,000 supporters. The Carson Region chapter embodies PFLAG's core mission of building loving families and communities where LGBTQ+ individuals are respected, valued, and affirmed for who they are. Under the leadership of Executive Director Janine Comoletti, an educator dedicated to creating safe and affirming learning environments, the organization provides one-on-one support for families navigating their LGBTQ+ loved ones' journeys. PFLAG Carson Region connects families, friends, and allies through regular monthly meetings and referrals to affirming health professionals in Northern Nevada. The organization recognizes that diversity should be celebrated and that all people deserve respect regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. By fostering understanding and advocacy at every level—from individual families to legislative chambers—PFLAG Carson Region demonstrates how community support transforms hearts and minds in service of a more inclusive society.
