PFLAG Hampton Roads
About PFLAG Hampton Roads
Since 1972, PFLAG has united lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual individuals with their families, friends, and allies in a mission of support, education, and advocacy. PFLAG Hampton Roads carries forward this legacy in Norfolk, VA, serving as a welcoming community hub where people from all backgrounds can connect authentically. The organization believes that diversity should be celebrated and that all people deserve to be respected, valued, and affirmed regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. PFLAG Hampton Roads welcomes anyone who is open-minded and supportive, recognizing that many attendees are LGBTQ+ community members themselves while others are parents, family members, and allies seeking understanding and connection. The organization is deeply committed to meeting people where they are—whether someone is just coming out to loved ones or has been on their journey for years—and maintaining that supportive relationship throughout their lifetime. Through grassroots engagement, meaningful events, and scholarship opportunities, PFLAG Hampton Roads works to create a world where hearts and minds respect and affirm LGBTQ+ people. As part of a vast national network spanning all 50 states, the organization brings both local community care and national resources to support equality and dignity in the Norfolk area.
