PFLAG Jersey Shore represents over two decades of dedicated community service, having been founded in 2004 to serve families and allies united with LGBTQ+ people across Monmouth and Ocean counties. The organization embodies a mission rooted in love, acceptance, and equality—creating a foundation where diverse families and individuals support one another through life's most important moments. What sets PFLAG Jersey Shore apart is their personal, relationship-centered approach to advocacy and support.
The chapter has touched countless lives in the Freehold, NJ area and surrounding communities. Parents who struggled to accept their children after coming out have found understanding and community. LGBTQ+ teens facing harassment in schools have discovered safe spaces and peer support. Transgender individuals navigating their personal journeys have accessed resources and compassionate guidance. Every person who walks through their doors—whether seeking support for themselves, their family members, or simply wanting to become an ally—is met with respect and affirmation.
As part of the larger PFLAG National network of over 350 chapters worldwide, PFLAG Jersey Shore carries forward a vision where hearts and minds are transformed through education and personal connection. They believe that when families and communities stand united with LGBTQ+ people, real change happens. Their work extends beyond support meetings to include community education, workplace training, and cultural celebration—all grounded in the conviction that diversity strengthens families and communities.
