About PFLAG Roaring Fork Valley
Founded in August 2017, PFLAG Roaring Fork Valley carries forward the national PFLAG mission of uniting LGBTQ people with families, friends, and allies in the Glenwood Springs, CO area and surrounding communities. As part of a movement spanning hundreds of thousands of people across hundreds of chapters nationwide since 1973, this local chapter embodies the principle of leading with love to support families, educate allies, and advocate for just and inclusive policies.
At its heart, PFLAG RFV is built on personal relationships and peer connection. The organization understands that support looks different for everyone—whether someone is seeking to connect with others who share their experience, looking for guidance as a parent or family member, or wanting to become an ally. This recognition shapes everything they do, from youth-focused gatherings to adult peer groups and family meetups.
What sets PFLAG Roaring Fork Valley apart is their dedication to serving as a genuine community hub rather than simply an organization. They've intentionally positioned themselves to know the landscape of LGBTQIA-serving resources throughout the valley and to connect people thoughtfully to what will serve them best. Their small volunteer team works with intention and care, recognizing that immediate crisis support needs are critical and maintaining partnerships with resources like The Trevor Project. By combining local peer support with regional resource coordination, PFLAG Roaring Fork Valley has created a welcoming entry point for anyone seeking connection, information, or advocacy within the Roaring Fork Valley community.
