About PFLAG Rockland

PFLAG Rockland is rooted in a powerful legacy of family love and advocacy that began in 1973 when founder Jeanne Manford and a committed group of parents and LGBTQ+ activists established the first-ever support group for parents of LGBTQ+ people. Today, PFLAG Rockland carries forward that transformative mission in Palisades, NY, believing that the acceptance and support of families is essential to the wellbeing and dignity of LGBTQ+ individuals.

The organization envisions a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. This vision guides everything PFLAG Rockland does—from hosting monthly support gatherings to launching community-centered projects like their collaborative coloring book featuring works by 40 local artists. These initiatives reflect the belief that together, communities are stronger and more capable of creating meaningful change.

Serving families, allies, and friends across Palisades and Rockland County, PFLAG Rockland operates on the principle that loving families united with LGBTQ+ people and allies can educate their communities and speak up as advocates until all hearts and minds truly respect and affirm LGBTQ+ people. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the organization remains dedicated to this foundational commitment: supporting families through peer connection, educating communities through dialogue and visibility, and advocating for policies and practices that protect and celebrate LGBTQ+ lives.
