About Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam
Rooted in a rich historical legacy dating back to 1945, the Philippine Consulate General in Tamuning, GU was established to serve the substantial Filipino community that came to Guam following the island's liberation from Japanese occupation in 1944. What began as an honorary consulate under Eduardo Xauduro evolved into a permanent consulate in 1952 under Bartolome A. Umayam, and was elevated to Consulate General status in 1964, reflecting the enduring importance of Filipino-Guamanian relations. The consulate was born from a genuine need to support the thousands of Filipino workers who arrived to help rebuild and rehabilitate Guam during the post-war reconstruction period. This historical foundation demonstrates the deep community bonds and mutual cooperation that have characterized the relationship between the Philippines and Guam for nearly eighty years. Today, the Philippine Consulate General in Tamuning remains dedicated to serving the Filipino community on the island, honoring the legacy of those early pioneers while continuing to facilitate meaningful connections between the two regions. The consulate's presence reflects the enduring commitment of the Philippine government to support its citizens abroad and maintain strong diplomatic relations with Guam.
