About Polish American Health Association, Inc.
Founded in October 1990 by approximately forty physicians and biomedical scientists from the greater Washington, DC area, the Polish American Health Association represents a unique gathering place for healthcare professionals of Polish descent. The organization emerged from a vision to create a dedicated forum where medical and health sciences professionals could explore shared professional, cultural, and social interests while maintaining connections to Poland's medical heritage. What began as an informal assembly at the Polish Embassy has evolved into a formally incorporated, federally recognized charitable organization operating under 501(c)(3) status since 1993. PAHA's mission centers on bringing together diverse healthcare workers—not just physicians, but also other health professionals and biomedical scientists—who share a commitment to advancing medical knowledge and supporting humanitarian causes. The organization demonstrates its community dedication through public discussion groups addressing selected medical and health topics, fundraising initiatives benefiting nonprofit organizations in Poland, and comprehensive support for Polish medical institutions. PAHA's presence in Washington, DC reflects the region's significant population of Polish-American professionals seeking both professional development and cultural connection. By maintaining active programming, travel grant opportunities for emerging scientists, and specialized fellowships, PAHA continues its decades-long tradition of bridging American and Polish medical communities while serving as an educational and charitable resource for the broader public interested in biomedical advancement.
