About Portland Willamette Valley Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Since its establishment in 2012, the Portland Willamette Valley Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. has grown into a vibrant community of mothers and families committed to strengthening Black youth in Portland, Oregon. What began as a passionate conversation among mothers from Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and across Oregon has blossomed into a thriving chapter that officially chartered in 2014. The chapter was founded on a simple but powerful desire: to ensure children feel proud of themselves, connect with peers who look like them, and share meaningful experiences within the African American community.

Today, the Portland chapter represents the broader mission of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., which boasts over 230 chapters nationwide with more than 40,000 family members. The Portland Willamette Valley Chapter honors the organization's legacy while building something uniquely rooted in the Pacific Northwest. Members describe the chapter as "feeding our soul" with the nourishment needed to empower the next generation. Through friendships formed among mothers, children, and fathers, the chapter creates a supportive environment where families work together toward shared goals of civic engagement, volunteer service, and philanthropic giving. Membership is available through legacy status or invitation, welcoming those who share the commitment to developing whole, civic-minded, community-spirited adults.
