About San Diego Chinese Women's Association
Founded in 1981 as the San Diego Chinese Women's Club, the San Diego Chinese Women's Association emerged from a visionary gathering of ten women who dreamed of creating a meaningful community organization. What began as a tea party in a founder's home in San Diego, CA has blossomed into a thriving 501(c)(3) non-profit with over a century of collective impact. Today, SDCWA represents a vibrant community of individuals united by a shared commitment to celebrating Chinese heritage while making a tangible difference in San Diego. The organization's mission reflects its deep roots: promoting public awareness and understanding of Chinese culture in all its dimensions—from history and art to literature, customs, and traditions—while actively supporting charitable organizations that serve the Chinese community and beyond. SDCWA stands out for its multi-generational approach to community building, combining cultural celebration with educational advancement and philanthropic action. Members benefit from a supportive network that values both cultural preservation and personal growth, with scholarship programs designed to help young members of the Chinese community pursue higher education. Operating as an established tax-exempt organization since 1990, SDCWA has earned its place as a trusted community partner in San Diego. The association welcomes new members who share a passion for cultural appreciation, community service, and building meaningful connections with neighbors from all backgrounds.
