The South Asian Network began in 1990 when a dedicated group of activists and volunteers gathered in a living room to address the urgent needs of a rapidly growing South Asian community in Southern California. Today, this grassroots movement has evolved into a fully staffed nonprofit organization headquartered in Artesia, CA, continuing its foundational mission of empowering South Asians to live lives of dignity and security. Over three decades of service, SAN has built genuine relationships and earned trust by understanding the specific cultural, linguistic, and systemic barriers that South Asian individuals and families face. The organization's diverse team represents multiple South Asian countries and faith traditions, enabling authentic connections with the community members they serve. SAN's vision extends beyond immediate service provision—it seeks to create systemic change in healthcare access, violence prevention, and civil rights for all South Asians regardless of race, ethnicity, country of origin, gender, faith, or ability. What distinguishes South Asian Network is its deep community roots and unwavering commitment to those who often have nowhere else to turn.
