South Florida Board of Realtist
About South Florida Board of Realtist
Since its charter in 1948, the South Florida Board of Realtists has been instrumental in advancing homeownership and economic opportunity within Miami Gardens, FL and surrounding communities. As the local chapter of NAREB—the oldest minority real estate trade organization in the United States, founded in 1947—SFBOR carries forward a legacy of breaking barriers and creating pathways to the American Dream of homeownership. The organization embraces all qualified real estate practitioners committed to the vision of Democracy in Housing, while maintaining a membership principally composed of African American professionals dedicated to serving their community. SFBOR's impact extends far beyond traditional real estate services. The organization played a pivotal role in collaborating with the Metro Miami Action Plan (MMAP) in 1994, leading to the creation of the MMAP Homeownership Assistance Program, which has successfully helped over 2,000 moderate-income families achieve homeownership. Through substantial homebuyer events and expos attracting hundreds of consumers, SFBOR continues fostering robust communities and economic advancement for minority populations. The organization's commitment to consumer protection and education remains central to its mission, working to prevent unethical, improper, or fraudulent practices while empowering African American consumers with knowledge and resources. SFBOR's diverse membership and comprehensive approach to community development reflect its enduring dedication to transforming lives through homeownership and professional opportunity in the South Florida region.
