Founded in 1975, the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association (SCCLA) has spent nearly five decades building a vibrant community of Chinese American and Asian American legal professionals in Los Angeles and Orange County. As the first Asian Pacific American bar association established in the United States, SCCLA pioneered a model of professional association that prioritizes mutual support, community empowerment, and social responsibility.
At its core, SCCLA is driven by three interconnected missions: advancing the professional growth and interests of Chinese American and Asian American lawyers, jurists, and law students; improving access to legal services for underserved Chinese American and Asian American communities; and advocating for the broader interests of these communities. This holistic approach reflects SCCLA's understanding that professional success and community welfare are inseparable.
The organization's commitment to giving back is evident in its numerous community partnerships and initiatives. SCCLA regularly collaborates with local organizations to provide pro bono legal clinics, with a particular focus on serving the San Gabriel Valley's multilingual population. Additionally, SCCLA members volunteer their time through the annual Holiday Food Basket Drive and other charitable programs that directly support families in need.
