St. Andre Bessette Guild of North Central Indiana
About St. Andre Bessette Guild of North Central Indiana
Founded in 2015 at the invitation of Bishop Kevin Rhoades, the St. Andre Bessette Guild serves the Mishawaka, Indiana healthcare community as a vibrant professional fellowship rooted in Catholic tradition. This local chapter of the national Catholic Medical Association brings together healthcare professionals—physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and others—who believe their vocation is intimately connected to Christ's healing ministry. The guild fosters deep community connections by organizing monthly gatherings that provide both professional development and meaningful fellowship among members. In the Mishawaka area, the guild has become an important voice on healthcare issues affecting the dignity and protection of human life, having actively participated in legislative discussions and policy matters relevant to Catholic medical practice. Members work collaboratively with St. Joseph Regional Medical Center to celebrate the annual White Mass, a spiritual event that reminds healthcare workers of their sacred calling. The guild recognizes the unique opportunity presented by the many levels of medical education in North Central Indiana, actively forming and mentoring the next generation of Catholic healthcare professionals. Under the continued guidance and support of Bishop Kevin Rhoades, the St. Andre Bessette Guild exemplifies how faith-centered medical professionals can unite around shared values while contributing meaningfully to their local healthcare landscape and the broader conversation about medicine and morality.
