About Texas Asian Business Students Association
The Asian Business Students Association (ABSA) represents a vibrant student community at the University of Texas at Austin, welcoming members regardless of ethnicity or business background since its founding in 1987. With a membership exceeding 300 students annually, ABSA has established itself as a family-oriented organization that transforms the large university environment into an inclusive, supportive network where students develop both professionally and personally.
At its heart, ABSA is built on the philosophy that success extends beyond the classroom. The organization structures its community through ABSA Families—smaller groups within the larger organization that foster genuine connections, organize regular social gatherings, and encourage friendly competition. This family-centered approach creates an environment where members build lasting friendships while navigating their academic and professional journeys together in Austin, Texas.
ABSA's commitment to holistic development is evident through its three interconnected pillars. The Professional pillar prepares members for corporate success through business leader mentorship and industry exposure. The Social pillar cultivates soft skills and camaraderie through team activities, social events, and competitions. The Philanthropic pillar demonstrates ABSA's deep roots in the Austin community, with members dedicating substantial time to local service initiatives and supporting community-selected charities.
Since its establishment nearly four decades ago, ABSA has maintained its mission to develop successful leaders who create positive impact both in professional environments and within their communities. The organization's growth and longevity reflect its authentic commitment to member development, community engagement, and creating a sense of belonging within the broader UT Austin student population.
