About Texas Muslim Women's Foundation, Inc
Founded by Muslim women in 2005, Texas Muslim Women's Foundation has grown into a leading advocate for survivors of domestic violence serving the Plano, Texas community and beyond. Over 20 years of dedicated service, TMWF has established itself as one of the first agencies in the United States to provide specialized support and care for women experiencing family violence. The organization's mission centers on empowering, promoting, and supporting all women and their families through education, outreach, philanthropy, and essential social services. TMWF's commitment extends beyond crisis intervention to building stronger, more supportive communities through awareness, understanding, and compassion. The foundation has united faith leaders across North Texas under a zero-tolerance pledge against domestic violence and has spearheaded the Contemporary Arab Muslim Cultural Institute at the University of North Texas. What distinguishes TMWF is its unique understanding of the needs of Muslim families combined with a genuinely inclusive approach that welcomes all community members without discrimination. The organization operates as a culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed agency, recognizing that no community is immune to abuse and that everyone deserves to live free of violence. Through strategic community dialogues, outreach initiatives, and collaborative partnerships, TMWF continues fostering meaningful change and providing compassionate support to those escaping abuse in the Plano region and throughout North Texas.
