Triangle Finnish Association
About Triangle Finnish Association
Triangle Finnish Association began as an informal gathering in 1980 when Annikki Giggins brought together fellow Finns in the Raleigh area to celebrate Finnish Independence Day in her home. What started as a small, intimate celebration grew organically year after year, eventually leading to the club's formal establishment in 1991 with the adoption of its current name and the election of its first board members. Today, TFA represents a thriving Finnish-American community in Cary and throughout North Carolina's Triangle region, united by a shared commitment to fellowship and cultural preservation. The organization's mission centers on strengthening bonds within the Finnish-American community while fostering genuine interest in Finland and Finnish culture among residents of the Triangle area. TFA creates a welcoming environment where members and friends can connect, celebrate, and build lasting memories together. The association maintains an open-door philosophy, with all meetings and events accessible to members who wish to participate in cultural celebrations or serve on the Board. By offering a warm, friendly community space dedicated to honoring Finnish heritage and traditions, TFA invites everyone—whether with Finnish ancestry or simply a passion for Finnish culture—to join in celebrating the rich traditions and lasting friendships that define the Triangle Finnish community.
