Turkish American Association of San Antonio

Founded in 1986 by Professor Turgut M. Ozan and his wife Sevin, the Turkish American Association of San Antonio has grown from humble beginnings into a thriving community organization serving the greater San Antonio, TX area. The organization's history reflects a genuine commitment to bringing the Turkish American community together, beginning with informal celebrations and dinners before establishing a formal non-profit structure. Today, ATA San Antonio stands as an inclusive organization that welcomes people of all religions, backgrounds, and national origins, united by a shared interest in Turkish culture and history. The association's mission centers on enhancing understanding and fostering positive relations between the peoples of Turkey and the United States, inspired by the ideals of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. What distinguishes ATA San Antonio is its focus on creating a vibrant, inclusive community where Turkish cultural heritage is celebrated and embraced through active engagement and meaningful connections. The organization serves not only Turkish Americans but also friends of Turkey who wish to deepen their appreciation for the country's rich traditions. Members benefit from cultural connections that expand their knowledge of Turkey, educational opportunities through curated events, and meaningful social engagement with like-minded individuals. ATA San Antonio demonstrates its commitment to the broader community through humanitarian efforts, including relief initiatives for those affected by natural disasters. Operating without a political agenda, the organization concentrates exclusively on intercultural, educational, and social objectives that strengthen community bonds and promote mutual understanding between cultures.
