About UCLA Sigma Pi Sigma Psi
Sigma Pi Sigma Psi stands as a historic organization at UCLA, representing a groundbreaking achievement in the Greek community. Formerly known as the Persian Society for Community Outreach, this student-led group has roots in genuine community service and cultural preservation, having officially received its Greek letters on May 18th, 2009, to become the world's first and only Persian sorority.
Serving the Los Angeles community, Sigma Pi Sigma Psi was born from a desire to support the significant Persian population in the region. The organization's members are unified by their passion for keeping Persian culture alive and vibrant, celebrating heritage through events and gatherings while building meaningful connections with fellow community members. Beyond cultural celebration, the sorority maintains its founding commitment to community service, with members volunteering with organizations like the Farhang Foundation to promote Iranian culture throughout Los Angeles.
What sets Sigma Pi Sigma Psi apart is its focus on authentic sisterhood and personal growth. The organization brings together 22 accomplished women who are dedicated to defying negative stereotypes about Persian women while fostering lifelong bonds. Members engage in regular events and activities that strengthen their connection to both their heritage and to one another, creating a supportive environment where women can thrive academically, socially, and culturally.
At its heart, Sigma Pi Sigma Psi represents more than Greek letters—it embodies a movement of cultural pride, community responsibility, and female empowerment. Based at UCLA in Los Angeles, the sorority continues to grow and evolve, welcoming new members who share the organization's values of sisterhood, service, and celebration of Persian identity.
