Rooted in Kingston, New York's rich immigrant heritage, the Ulster County Italian American Foundation emerged from a vital community need to sustain Italian traditions as each generation passed. Founded in 2015 as a New York State Not-For-Profit organization and approved as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS, the Foundation represents the pride and cultural legacy of approximately 35,000 Italian Americans in Ulster County who trace their ancestry to families that immigrated through Ellis Island in search of opportunity and a better life. The organization was born from the vision of community members who recognized that Italian traditions were fading and that a dedicated organization was needed to keep the culture alive and vibrant. Today, the Foundation serves as a gathering place for Italian Americans to express ethnic pride, connect with their heritage, and give back to their community.
