About Unico Granby

Unico Granby represents a proud tradition of service rooted in Italian American heritage and community values. As a chapter of UNICO National, founded in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1922, the Granby organization carries forward the vision of Dr. Anthony P. Vastola and the fourteen other founders who believed that true strength comes from placing service to others above personal interests. The name UNICO itself—Italian for 'unique' or 'one of a kind'—reflects the organization's distinctive commitment to uniting Italian Americans and motivating them toward greater civic responsibility. Serving the Granby, Connecticut community, this chapter embodies the principle that meaningful change happens when individuals sacrifice personal gain for the collective good. Over more than a century, UNICO has grown into a network of dedicated members who understand that community service requires commitment, integrity, and genuine care for neighbors. The Granby chapter welcomes those who share these values and wish to be part of something larger than themselves. Whether through educational scholarships, charitable programs, or community events, Unico Granby continues the legacy of building stronger neighborhoods through unity and neighborliness. Members find not just an organization, but a family of individuals bound by shared Italian heritage and a deep commitment to making their community better for future generations.
