Unlearning Jewish Anxiety
About Unlearning Jewish Anxiety
Come explore the ups and downs of Jewish anxiety and how to handle it with some real talk and good vibes.
Feeling anxious lately about the state of the world and being Jewish? It's not all in your head, and you’re not alone. Jewish anxiety is not our fault. It’s an understandable response to fear, uncertainty, and anti-Jewish contempt.
Rabbi Dr. Caryn Aviv, author of Unlearning Jewish Anxiety: How to Live with More Joy and Suffer Less, will lead this course with Rabbi Jenna using neuroscience and Jewish wisdom to offer practical tools for how to spot when we’re in a Jewish anxiety loop and how to respond with better habits. Unlearning Jewish Anxiety explores what anxiety feels like and untangles some common Jewish anxiety habits about our safety, worth, and belonging in this difficult world.
This discussion will help you understand what we face, how we got here, and how we can live more fully in the present moment with awareness, curiosity, and self-compassion, and hopefully, less suffering.
No one will be turned away from any of our classes due to lack of funds. For more information, please contact our Jewish Life Associate, Robyn Fishman

Sixth & I: Jewish Life and Social Events
Sixth & I is a center for arts, entertainment, ideas, and Jewish life in Washington, DC. We inspire more meaningful and fulfilling lives through an unexpected mix of experiences that embrace the multi-faceted identities of those we serve. Housed within a revitalized historic synagogue dating back to 1908 in the heart of the Nation’s Capital, Sixth & I reimagines how culture, community, and Jewish life can enhance people’s everyday lives. Across wide-ranging, thought-provoking, and accessible experiences, we celebrate the unexpected intersections between culture and spirituality and, in so doing, expand our sense of what’s sacred. As a cultural resource for the entire city, our talks, concerts, comedy shows, and live podcast recordings offer rare access to preeminent thought leaders, renowned performers, and pop culture influencers. Against the stunning backdrop of our historic sanctuary, these programs fuel curiosity, encourage new perspectives, and spark inspiration. Our Jewish programming—including education, Shabbat services, holiday celebrations, and social justice work—offers dynamic ways for those in their 20s and 30s to explore life’s big questions through a Jewish framework and engage with Jewish values, ideas, and traditions on their own terms and without judgment. As a multi-denominational and non-membership spiritual home, Sixth & I creates space for people at a similar stage of life to find community with one another and to discover the value Judaism can add to their lives.
