The National Association of Black Accountants (NABA, Inc.), is a nonprofit membership association dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for black professionals in the accounting, finance and related business professions. Representing more than 200,000 black professionals in these fields, NABA advances people, careers, and the mission by providing education, resources, and meaningful career connections to both professional and student members, fulfilling the principle of our motto: Lifting As We Climb.
The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. - Southern New England & Westchester Professional Chapter (SNEW) was chartered in June 1991 at its First Annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet. The chapter was founded by a small core of dedicated individuals to address the professional development and networking needs of African American accounting and business professionals in the areas of New Haven and Fairfield Counties, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York, which was added in 2001.
The Southern New England & Westchester chapter was established to expand the reach of NABA initiatives. Comprised of professionals in the Southern New England area of Connecticut and Westchester area of New York, we work to continue in the NABA motto “Lifting As We Climb.” Together with students from the University of Bridgeport, Iona College, and West Connecticut State University, we form the Southern New England & Westchester chapter.
The Connecticut Italian American Bar Association, Inc. (“CIABA”), founded in 1993, is the leading voice of Connecticut’s Italian American legal community. It is open to all attorneys and legal professionals of Italian descent, as well as to all those who share the organization’s goals and love of Italian culture. We strive to promote legal excellence and professionalism, to encourage camaraderie and fraternity among both the Italian American legal community and the Bar in general, and to preserve, promote, and advance our Italian heritage. The group is comprised of Officers, a Board of Directors, and a vibrant membership which includes practitioners from a wide and diverse range of legal specialties. CIABA is an official affiliate of the National Italian American Bar Association, and has also been designated by the Connecticut Bar Association as an “Affinity Bar,” which is a bar association that maintains the promotion of diversity in the legal profession as a primary goal.
Connecticut Italian American Bar Association (CIABA) is a vibrant organization that aims to encourage professional excellence as well as camaraderie and fraternity in the legal profession, to advocate for diversity in the bar, and to preserve, promote, and advance Italian culture in the Connecticut legal community. We have more than 100 members who practice in all corners of the State and represent a wide and diverse group of legal specialties, practices, and nationalities.
The diversity of our organization serves to enhance our members’ professional networks. More importantly, CIABA is an outlet for its members to gather (always over a great meal) and discuss, not only their professional experiences, but also food, travel, family history, the positive influences and contributions on American culture and law, and current events both in America and in Italy. Indeed, our members often identify CIABA as their most worthwhile and enjoyable professional affiliation.
The Stamford Chapter was restarted in November ,1976 after a pause of several years. The Chapter raised the funds to produce and erect the Statue of Columbus and also the 500th Anniversary monument that are now in Columbus Park. We are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making our community a better place for all. This is why each year we award thousands of dollars in scholarships to local students and give thousands of dollars in gifts to needy families at Christmas.
Our mission is to contribute to the well-being of our local communities of the nation by making significant contributions to deserving local and national charities. UNICO strives to honor, perpetuate and disseminate the culture and ethnic heritage of our Italian immigrant ancestors, by supporting higher education and by educating and informing our members, local communities and our nation.
