About USC Black Business Student Association
The Black Business Student Association represents a vital component of the University of Southern California's commitment to student support and cultural development in Los Angeles, CA. Originating from the Black Student Services Department established in 1977, this student organization has evolved into the Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs (CBCSA), maintaining its foundational mission of supporting students throughout their academic journey while fostering holistic growth.
Since its inception, CBCSA has prioritized creating an environment where students develop academically, culturally, professionally, and socially. The organization warmly welcomes all members of the USC community to participate in its programs, events, and community spaces. With experienced staff including a Director of Strategic Partnerships and Center Supervisor, CBCSA maintains deep roots in higher education and demonstrates genuine passion for supporting underrepresented students in achieving success.
The organization's vision extends beyond individual student achievement to strengthening the entire USC community's understanding of Black culture and heritage. Through cultural ambassadors and dedicated staff members, many of whom are first-generation professionals and Southern California natives, CBCSA brings authentic, lived experience to its programming and student support initiatives. The center operates consistently with the University's non-discrimination policies, ensuring inclusive access to all programs and resources.
Based in Los Angeles, CBCSA has become a gathering place where students find community, support, and belonging. The organization's evolution from a single department to a comprehensive cultural center reflects USC's growing recognition of the importance of culturally affirming spaces. Students can access a store featuring organization merchandise, stay connected through newsletters, and participate in events that celebrate Black excellence and build lasting peer relationships.
