About USC Vietnamese Student Association
Since 1976, the USC Vietnamese Student Association has served as a cornerstone organization for Vietnamese and Vietnamese-American students at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. What began as a small gathering of Vietnamese immigrants seeking to unite their culture within USC's diverse student body has blossomed into an intimate, active, and dynamic community dedicated to heritage preservation and cultural pride.
At its heart, USC VSA embodies the Vietnamese concept of gia đình—family—extending far beyond traditional definitions to encompass the entire student body and Los Angeles community. Members embrace their heritage while actively contributing back to their neighborhoods, understanding that cultural connection strengthens both individual identity and community bonds. The organization creates welcoming spaces where students can celebrate traditions, discuss important topics, and build lasting relationships rooted in shared values.
The association's four pillars guide their work: celebrating and educating others about Vietnamese culture and traditions; reinforcing the values that form the structure of their community; providing an open and inclusive environment for members to connect socially and intellectually; and maintaining strong networks with the broader Vietnamese community outside campus.
