About UT Austin Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated's Epsilon Beta Chapter brings the mission and values of a historic nonprofit organization to the University of Texas Austin campus. Established on March 26, 1960, with twelve charter members and visionary leadership including Founder Myra Davis Hemmings, Epsilon Beta emerged from the dream of creating a Delta Sigma Theta presence at UT Austin. The chapter is rooted in the organization's founding principles, established January 13, 1913, by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University who envisioned a sisterhood dedicated to service and social advancement. Today, Epsilon Beta serves as part of a global sisterhood comprising more than 350,000 predominantly Black college-educated women, with chapters spanning the United States, Canada, England, Japan, Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea. In Austin, the chapter embodies Delta Sigma Theta's commitment to providing assistance and support through established programs that address real community needs. The women of Epsilon Beta have earned recognition for their impact on social justice within the Austin community, demonstrating that meaningful change emerges from sustained commitment and collective action. Their work reflects the sorority's Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, ensuring that their service initiatives address economic development, health, education, political engagement, and international awareness. The Epsilon Beta Chapter welcomes individuals who embrace the organization's values and desire to contribute to a legacy of service, leadership, and community transformation. By joining this chapter in Austin, TX, members connect with a sisterhood that spans generations and continents, united by a shared commitment to excellence and social responsibility.
