About UT Austin Kappa Phi Lambda
Founded in 1995 at Binghamton University, Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. has grown into a national sisterhood represented at 33 university campuses with over 4,100 members. The Alpha Gamma Chapter at the University of Texas at Austin was established in 2009 by seven courageous founding members who brought the sorority's mission westward for the first time. Since its inception, the UT Austin chapter has become known as one of the most active and engaged chapters in the region, embodying the organization's commitment to sisterhood, service, and cultural diversity.
At its heart, Kappa Phi Lambda is built on the principle that there is no sisterhood quite like the Kappa sisterhood. Members embrace a unique relationship grounded in mutual respect, shared values, and lifelong friendship that extends beyond the college years. The organization is distinguished by its dedication to community service and social justice, tackling tough issues that impact society while promoting humanitarian causes. Whether through supporting CARE's global poverty reduction efforts or addressing local challenges in Austin, Texas, members actively contribute to meaningful change.
The sorority celebrates cultural diversity not as a restriction but as an invitation for women of all backgrounds to join a supportive community. Through events, collaborations, and shared experiences throughout each semester, the UT Austin chapter enriches campus culture while maintaining academic excellence. Kappa Phi Lambda offers women the opportunity to discover their potential as leaders, build authentic connections, and start something within themselves that will change the world.
