Since its establishment in 2017, Pi Lambda Chi Latina Sorority's Eta Chapter has become an integral part of the University of Texas Austin student experience, representing a historic moment for the national organization. As the first Pi Lambda Chi chapter to be founded outside Colorado, the Austin, Texas chapter holds special significance within the sorority's history and continues to build upon the vision of its seven co-founders. The organization was established by a dedicated group of Latina women—Denise Morales, Yulissa Colunga, Alessandria Garza, Berenice Ramirez, Maria Ramirez, Adela Rena, and America Sierra—who envisioned creating a supportive community for Latina students at UT Austin.
