About UT Austin Queer Business Student Association
Founded in 2007 by UT Austin students and employees of leading firms, the Queer Business Student Association emerged from a vision to create a welcoming community for LGBTQ+ professionals in business. This Austin, TX-based student organization has a rich history of advocacy and community building, having navigated challenges and transformations to remain a vital presence within the university's business school. After a period of hiatus from 2015 to 2017, the association was revitalized with renewed purpose and commitment to advancing queer visibility in corporate environments.
The organization's evolution reflects its responsiveness to community needs and feedback. In 2018, the association underwent a significant rebrand with a refreshed leadership team and clarified mission focused on workplace equality and corporate representation. Most notably, in November 2019, the association renamed itself to the Queer Business Student Association to better reflect contemporary language and demonstrate greater inclusivity toward all members of the LGBTQ+ community.
At its core, the Queer Business Student Association in Austin represents a commitment to building inclusive professional spaces where diverse perspectives are valued and celebrated. The organization serves as a supportive network for students navigating their business education and early careers, offering community, mentorship, and advocacy. By bringing together queer students, allies, and professionals, the association continues its founding mission of promoting workplace equality while fostering meaningful connections among members who share a commitment to creating positive change in the business world.
