About Vietnamese Culture & Science Association

Since its founding in 1990, the Vietnamese Culture & Science Association has served as a vital bridge connecting Vietnamese American and Canadian communities while fostering civic participation and cultural pride. Operating from Houston, Texas, this established 501(c)(3) non-profit has grown to represent over 650 members—primarily young professionals, high school and college students—across multiple regions including Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Minneapolis/St. Paul, San Diego, Washington DC, Toronto, and Vancouver. VCSA's mission centers on empowering excellence through multi-generational and cross-cultural collaborations, recognizing that cultural identity and educational advancement go hand-in-hand. The organization believes that celebrating Vietnamese heritage strengthens understanding and engagement within both mainstream and Vietnamese American communities. Beyond cultural celebration, VCSA is deeply committed to civic engagement and community development, offering members pathways to volunteer, participate in meaningful events, and make tangible contributions to their communities. The association actively prioritizes accessibility and inclusion, working diligently to ensure that all community members—regardless of background or ability—can fully participate in programs and access digital resources. Led by dedicated board members including Thanh Luu (Board Chair) and Elena Thuy Tran (Vice Chair), VCSA continues its three-decade legacy of building leadership capacity, promoting educational excellence, and preserving cultural traditions. For those seeking to connect with their heritage, develop leadership skills, and contribute to community change in the Houston area and beyond, VCSA provides an inclusive, values-driven community.
