Mosaic Steel Orchestra, Inc.
Mosaic Steel Orchestra is a premier, community-based steelpan orchestra headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, dedicated to inspiring unity through the power of music, culture, and education. Founded by Dr. William Anthony Hailey, Mosaic brings together youth, adults, and seniors in a shared celebration of creativity, discipline, and Caribbean musical heritage. Through its acclaimed Mosaic Academy programs, the orchestra provides year-round music education, performance training, and cultural enrichment across schools and community centers throughout Hampton Roads. Students learn not only to perform but also to lead — gaining confidence, teamwork, and lifelong skills that extend far beyond the stage. Mosaic’s performances blend artistry and energy, showcasing the full range of the steel orchestra — from delicate tenor melodies to thunderous bass harmonies — in styles that span classical, jazz, pop, and calypso traditions. Whether performing for local audiences or representing the region on national stages, Mosaic Steel Orchestra stands as a vibrant cultural ambassador, preserving the legacy of the steelpan while shaping its future.
