Women's Bean Project
About Women's Bean Project
Since 1989, Women's Bean Project has been transforming lives in Denver, Colorado through the power of employment and community support. Founded by Jossy Eyre, who recognized that shelter alone could not create lasting change, the organization began with just $500 and two women, growing into a thriving social enterprise that now impacts hundreds of women annually. The nonprofit operates on the belief that all women have the power to transform their lives when given genuine opportunity, meaningful work, and supportive community. Women's Bean Project serves women striving to overcome significant barriers to employment by providing not just jobs, but comprehensive support including job training, life skills development, and connection to resources that foster overall well-being. The organization's core values—community, empowerment, opportunity, self-sufficiency, support, and transformation—guide every aspect of their work. By hiring women who are chronically unemployed and teaching them to create nourishing food products, participants gain the confidence and skills needed to stand tall, find their purpose, and build stable futures. The ripple effect extends beyond individual women; when a woman's life transforms, her family's life transforms, and her community benefits. Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Denver, Women's Bean Project represents a unique model where social impact and business success intertwine, proving that meaningful employment is a pathway to dignity, hope, and lasting change for women in Colorado and across the nation.
