We're everywhere you want to be ... Connecting, Communicating, and Educating! The Black Alumni Chapter (BAC) has worked to turn a shared vision into an organization dedicated to bringing alumni together and creating a link with the university. The BAC has evolved from a small group of alumni and faculty into a formal alumni chapter with an energetic leadership. In January 2003, the BAC became a formal alumni chapter of George Mason University. At that point, the organization established a governing structure and began mapping a plan for how the BAC could serve alumni. We have adopted the following working mission statement: The BAC, a formal alumni chapter of George Mason University's Alumni Association, brings together alumni through fellowship and professional development activities. The BAC is a resource for alumni to forge lasting relationships, identify professional development opportunities, and match alumni resources with current Black students and organizations; as well as support the university’s growing network of alumni who give back. Our chapter has hosted several events to include Black Alumni Weekend, Homecoming Black Block, Forty Under 40 Honors, Black Scholars Golf Classic, Founders’ Gala, and Step-Off. Future events will typically focus on professional development, networking and scholarship fundraising. On the evening of December 2, 2023, the chapter celebrated its 20-year anniversary with A Toast to 20 at the Tysons Corner Marriott.
