Since 2002, the Iranian Cultural Society of Nova Scotia has served as a cornerstone of cultural preservation and community connection for Iranian-Canadians in Halifax and across the province. This registered not-for-profit organization was founded on a mission to celebrate Iranian heritage while building stronger bonds between Iranian and broader Canadian communities. What sets ICS apart is its unwavering commitment to remaining non-political and non-religious, ensuring that all members—regardless of background—feel welcomed and valued. The organization is governed democratically, with members holding the power to vote, express their perspectives, and run for leadership positions on the Board of Directors. ICS has earned the trust of hundreds of Iranian and non-Iranian volunteers who contribute their time and talents to make community events meaningful and memorable. From children's activities and summer celebrations to educational workshops and outdoor adventures, ICS creates spaces where families can connect with their cultural roots while building friendships with neighbors and fellow community members. The society's comprehensive membership program offers not only voting rights and event participation but also opportunities to volunteer, access exclusive seminars, and contribute to organizational decisions. By emphasizing cultural diversity, mutual respect, and social solidarity, ICS has established itself as more than just an event organizer—it is a vital gathering place where the Iranian-Canadian community in Halifax can celebrate their identity, share traditions, and strengthen their place within Nova Scotia's multicultural landscape.
