Since 1987, the Indo American Cultural & Religious Foundation has been the nucleus of the Indo-American community in Phoenix, Arizona, founded by visionary community leaders with a singular mission: keeping the community united. What began as a grassroots effort has evolved into a thriving institutional presence serving generations of families seeking cultural connection, spiritual fulfillment, and community belonging.
IACRFAZ operates on the principle that community strength comes from shared values and collective action. The organization built its first Community Center in 1988, recognizing the need for a gathering place where Indo-American families could celebrate their heritage, practice their faith, and support one another. Recognizing continued growth and spiritual needs, the foundation partnered with community members to establish Bharatiya Ekta Mandir (BEMA) in 2001, creating the Ekta Mandir temple as a symbol of unity and cultural preservation.
Today, the Phoenix-based foundation operates a comprehensive campus offering religious services, cultural celebrations including Navaratri festivities, educational programs for youth and adults, and meaningful community service initiatives. The organization's commitment extends beyond its own community through outreach programs addressing food insecurity, health equity, and youth development. IACRFAZ represents a multi-generational commitment to preserving Indo-American traditions while actively contributing to the broader Phoenix community. With more than 200 families having contributed to the temple's construction and ongoing support from dedicated volunteers and donors, the foundation embodies the collaborative spirit that has defined its mission for over three decades.
