Tribal In-house Counsel Association is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization. TICA was created for purposes of providing resources and networking opportunities to tribal in-house practitioners.
Geared toward providing service and resources to attorneys who provide legal services directly to Tribes and Tribal Governments, the Tribal In-house Counsel Association (TICA) connects members and provides both a forum and community for Tribal Government legal issues.
TICA was formed in 2012 out of the growing Tribal in-house type of practice structure. More and more Tribes find either through governmental need or for cost-effective solutions that they need an internal legal structure in addition to any law firm issue-specific representation. While there are several legal associations geared for Tribal practitioners in general, TICA focuses on issues and practices specific and unique to lawyers employed directly by a Tribal Government, Tribal Enterprise, or other similar entity.
Founded in 2007, the Native American Bar Association of Arizona (NABA-AZ) is a nonprofit organization created to advance and improve the practice of Indian law and promote the professional development of its members. NABA-AZ members include Native American and non-Native American attorneys, law students, advocates and other legal professionals.
National Native American Bar Association shares many of the same goals of diversity and increased understanding of our communities’ unique cultural and legal issues with minority bar associations. However, most of our lawyers are both U.S. citizens and citizens of their respective Tribal nations. Our members, therefore, also share the communal responsibility, either directly or indirectly, of protecting the governmental sovereignty of the more than 560 independent Native American Tribal governments in the United States.
The National Native American Bar Association began in 1973 as the American Indian Lawyers Association. After a few name changes (American Indian Bar Association to Native American Bar Association), in 1980 we reorganized and developed a chapter system for state Indian bar associations, and we became the National Native American Bar Association. Each of the Chapters has a vote on the NNABA Board of Directors. As the name Native American implies, NNABA represents the interests of all populations indigenous to the lands which are now collectively the United States : American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.

The Native American Advancement Foundation was formed in 2011 by members of the Tohono O’odham Nation. Through the combined efforts of Tribal Members and by partnering with outside organizations, we help strengthen our Native American communities in the areas of education, health and wellness, housing, food sustainability, environment, animal welfare, and opening economic opportunities on tribal lands.
As members of the Nation, we have a vested interest and long-term commitment to the betterment of our community. We are uniquely qualified to assist our community as we have a personal understanding of the needs and desires of the people of the District and the Nation at large.
