An opportunity for Black educators to expand and deepen commitments and practices that support their healing and well-being.
Offering Description
The Black Teacher Project is dedicated to supporting Black teachers in creating communities of liberated learning. We believe that the wellness of Black educators is an essential priority as we work collaboratively towards reimagining our school environments into places that enable students to manifest their full potentials. Now, more than ever, it is important to provide our teachers with practical tools, approaches, and support spaces that center our collective healing and humanity. As Black teachers and educators, our communities need our leadership, which requires us to be a demonstration of the wholeness that is ours by birthright.
Collective Liberation in Action: A Black Educator Healing Convening is hosted in partnership with Liberated Educators Lab and Black Educator Advocates Network. This event is a 2-day opportunity to be immersed in a cocoon of Black love where participants will reconnect to ancestral wisdom and their humanity as Black educators and leaders. By trying on mindsets and practices that cultivate and enrich their thriving inside and outside of schools, attendees will build capacity for continuing Black educators’ legacy of taking action towards a liberated future.
Participants will:
Share time and space for connection, collective healing, and community building with other Black educators.
Engage in wellness practices that support an embodiment of self-love, soulfulness, healing, and agency.
Explore affirming approaches to health and well-being that are centered in Black identity development.
Learn about frameworks and tools that support practices for healing and thriving.
Experience an increased sense of possibility, creativity, and agency to transcend constraints and limitations.
Deepen understanding about the relationship between adult wellness and teaching.
Learn advocacy approaches and how organizing and advocacy connect to healing.
